Are you a qualified mountain flying flight instructor?
Yes I am. I qualified for the NZ CAA indorsement for Mountain Flying Flight Instructing in 2011. I have flown within the mountainous terrain of the South Island of New Zealand since 1990. As of June 2023, within my 8000 hours of hands on flying I have over 4000 hours of Flight Instruction.
Do you have fixed course dates?
No, I will arrange a course schedule with you via email. The 10% deposit will lock in these dates.
Can I achieve the Terrain Awareness syllabus required for my NZ Private Pilot Licence by attending your mountain flying course?
Yes, the 3 day mountain flying course will fulfil this 5 hour NZ PPL requirement.
Can I achieve the Mountain Flying Course of 5 hours required for my NZ Commercial Pilot Licence?
Yes, a total of 10 hours mountain flying tuition is required in your logbook for a NZ CPL. Depending if you are qualifiying for a NZ CPL licence as an overseas pilot or training in NZ for your CPL, the 3 or 5 day mountain flying course will fulfil this requirement.
Can I complete the mountain flying ground course for my NZ Commercial Pilot Licence with Mountain Flare?
Yes, a mountain flying ground course is conducted in all the 3 Mountain Flare courses. The NZ CPL CAA flight test standard mountain flying ground course can be accomplished during the 3 or 5 day course.
Can Mountain Flare arrange an aircraft to hire so I can complete a Mountain Flare mountain flying course?
Yes, I own ZK-EKP C172M based from Kaikoura Aerodrome.
Is Mountain Flare only based from Kaikoura?
No, I can fly to an agreed destination to conduct a mountain flying course.
